10 things about me.

I originally wrote this post on the way to SoFabCon 2014. It’s about a year later, and I’m sitting in a hotel room gearing up for the first day of Mom 2.0. I figure some of you might be peeking at my blog, so I’m resharing this post with a new photo and a few edits to bring it up to date.

From 2014….

I’m at 32,000 feet, headed to Bentonville Arkansas for the second annual SoFabCon. I actually won the trip to this awesomesauce conference so I’m even that much more excited. There’s a private Facebook group for SoFabCon14 and a few conference goers have written about me posts. Better late than never, right?

10 things about me.

1.) I have a red shoe problem. At last count I own at least 6, if not 7 pairs of red shoes. This is one of those things that happened quite by accident. I do wear shoes that aren’t red… on occasion.

2.) Fifteen years ago I went to Seattle for a long weekend during some major life changes. I ended up staying. As in, quit my job, broke my lease and drove across the country within 3 weeks of the visit. Best decision I ever made.

3.) People ask me all the time why I don’t write more about Sebby’s Autism. The truth is, it’s not my story to tell. It’s his story.  I do read other Autism blogs though – one I discovered recently is Autism With a Side of Fries. Let me tell you, she nails it.

4.) I’m much more introverted in person than online. I know, shocker. But sometimes if I am out of my element I can come across as a little tiny bit of a bitch. It’s not my intention and I really do love you. (Unless I don’t, ha!)

5.) I lost my big brother in a motorcycle accident in 2005. Someone turned in front of him and he had no time to stop. Share the road. Wear your helmet if you ride.

6.) I never thought I’d be a work at home mom. Now I don’t think I could ever go back. Blogging has brought so many opportunities for myself and my family. The idea of having to work for someone else in a cubical somewhere is just not appealing to me at all.

7.) I was not the cool kid in school. I have little tolerance for bullying, but I think we all have a mean girl streak that appears some times. I can be snarky, but snarky just means my filter is turned off for the moment.

8.) Somehow I’ve made it nearly 50 years ink-free. I think it’s because when I was in college all of my friends were getting tattoos and it seemed a little too trendy for me. Not to mention there were a lot of bad tattoos happening. I don’t know why I’m including this other than it generally surprises people.

9.) I met my husband when I was 17 years old in 1992. He didn’t really feel comfortable dating me because I was a minor (oh for shame) and he was 21 (so old). It took us awhile to get married, but we celebrated our 7th anniversary this year.

10.) I’m a crazy cat lady, but please do not give me things with cats on them. Please. Just don’t.

So there are 10 things.. if you want to know something else, come find me this weekend at Mom2.0. If you aren’t at Mom 2,0, ask me below… maybe I will answer…
