I can’t believe that summer vacation is almost over! Sebby starts FIRST GRADE in 15 days. To celebrate, I thought I’d “send a card” for him to open. (aka pretend I’m the pony express and sneak off to his room with him)
The first order of business was making him a calendar for his room to count down the days! His Nanni and Poppi are coming to visit too, so I added that to the calendar. It will be super easy for him to see what day it is when he gets up in the morning each day.
Sebby loves Cars and Planes. Loves. His whole room is themed (okay it’s an explosion) with Cars and Planes, so when I found these AWESOME Hallmark Poster Cards at Walmart, I knew he’d love the Planes one.
I totally get that lots of kids love going back to school – it means seeing their friends every day and so much more. But with Sebby having Autism, we sometimes like to go over the top for things because it makes them more memorable for him. That and he’s a pretty awesome kid, so he deserves it!
When his Nanni and Poppi come to town we’ll go to his favorite burger place and celebrate him starting school with a special sundae, and we’ll get him some new kicks and back to school clothes.
For now though, Sebby’s super cool kids poster card is hanging up on his door to remind him of what a spectacular kid he is. And I’ll be sure to give him stickers every day too. Right now he’s pretty underwhelmed about the idea, but I know as we get closer to his first day of first grade, he will get more excited.
His kids poster card is awesome! It comes all folded up and can be mailed in a regular envelope. They are over 4 feet tall when unfolded. So cool. You need to check them out at Walmart.
