We watch a lot of Marvel movies in this house. What's not to love, my husband and I both read comic books as kids and love seeing our superheroes on the tv. It's pretty hard for us to get out to see movies on the silver screen, so we are both eagerly waiting for Captain America: The Winter Soldier to make it's debut on Blu-Ray on September 9.
With the release just a week away, we got the ball rolling with a viewing of the first Captain America movie, ands some M&M’s® popcorn balls. It's the perfect movie snack. You can even pretend their like the Captain America shields, because they are round. Hehe.
Be warned: When you are making them, it's a sticky glorious mess. Depending on your tolerance for mess, you might be the one to be in charge of the shaping of the balls. Don't say I didn't warn you.
M&M's Popcorn Balls
Ingredients
8 cups popped popcorn
2 cups M&M's
40 regular sized marshmallows
3 tablespoons butter
Melt your butter over low heat in a large stock pot, and add marshmallows and stir occasionally until melted. Then add the popcorn and gently fold it into the marshmallows until coated.
Pour your popcorn marshmallow mixer into a pan and allow to cool for a few minutes before adding the M&Ms (this is to keep them from melting). After you've added the M&M's spray your hands with vegetable oil and begin shaping the mixture into balls. This is to keep your hands from sticking to the popcorn/marshmallow/M&M's mixture.
Place your balls in a muffin tin that has been lightly sprayed with vegetable spray to cool and harden slightly.

Amy
Your balls are a lot smaller than I expected, but I suppose size doesn't matter. And I guess with the smaller ones you can pop the whole thing in your mouth, right? I'm sure they were fun to make!
