How does childhood hunger impact where you live?

Child Hunger is closer than you think
You may not realize it, but child hunger is an issue that is closer than you think. It impacts your state, your country and your community.  Kids at the neighborhood school. A child in your son or daughter’s classroom.

When kids are hungry – they don’t get to be kids. They don’t do well in school. They don’t want to play. They are missing out on their childhood.

Almost 80,000 children in King County, WA were hungry in 2012, according to the map below. That’s just too many. Free and reduced lunch programs help, but what about what that child’s dinner. Meals at school may be all they have. That makes me sad. I checked out other areas I’ve lived, and the statistics are still the same, too many hungry families.
