Dash & Dot - Front
We’ve been talking about wanting to teach our daughter Quincy the basics of learning to code for awhile now. She has an intuitive nature and figures things out easily. When we learned about Dash, the kids robot, we had a feeling he was just what we were looking for.

Meet Dash – Dash is a real robot, charged and ready to play out of the box. Responding to voice, navigating objects, dancing, and singing, Dash is the robot you always dreamed of having. Use Wonder, Blockly, and other apps to create new behaviors for Dash — doing more with robotics than ever possible. No books or camps needed!

What we love about Dash, the kids robot

Dash’s personality is so darn cute, he’s irresistible. We’ve had lots of fun coding our own little program strings that have lots of his little quips – he’s too much fun! Not just for kids, but for the grownups too. Dash, the kids robot navigates our hardwood floors with ease, whether patrolling a room or, perhaps, chasing the cat.  I handed Quincy my phone with the “Go” app, and she figured out how to steer Dash in less than 2 minutes.

Dash, the kids robot and QuincyTeaching Kids to Code

I’m hoping Dash helps Quincy become more assertive and step out of her shell. She already has a knack for technology and I think she’ll love the more advanced Wonder Workshop apps, like Blocker, after she’s mastered the basics. The programs can be executed immediately, and having automatic results is pretty fantastic! With Dash Quincy will gain hands-on experiences with STEM principles like conditionals, variables and sequences through coding languages that program the way she thinks.

The fun doesn’t stop with Dash, Dash also has his sidekick, Dot. Plus there are oodles of accessories I’ve been adding to our wish list. Not to mention I think we need to get some more LEGO Technic sets. Now if only that smartphone mount would come back in stock on the Wonder Workshop website. Because I need it. NEED.
