Thanks to our friends at Disney, my family and I saw Planes earlier this week. It wasn’t the red carpet premiere, but it still was a special treat for the kids – especially when we some of my favorite local bloggers and THEIR kids were there too!
To say we’re mildly obsessed with Disney Cars is an understatement. After all, my son has the a giant lightening bolt painted on his wall in his room. And I’m not talking about the Flash (not that the Flash isn’t cool). Or that we have well over 100 of the diecast cars from the two movies. Yeah, we’re fans. Now our explosion includes the loved characters from Disney Planes!
So, just talking for me, and not even for them, I’ve wanted to see Disney Planes since I first saw the preview for it over a year ago.
Disney Planes – from the world above Cars.
So I should probably say right off the bat that there’s not a whole lot of driving in this movie. It is after all, Planes -make sure your kiddos know this going in – just in case. We had geared our kids up by buying some of the diecast toys ahead of time so they’d recognize them on the silver screen.
I don’t want to give a whole lot away (what is the fun in spoilers) but watching Dusty, a cropduster plane go after dreams of competing as a high-flying air racer was a lot of fun. There’s a small problem of Dusty being afraid of heights, and not really being built for racing! Planes was a fun adventure that I really enjoyed! Parents will love that there is no crude humor and limited scary scenes (Dusty does go underwater and into a train tunnel)
So what did my kids think? Well, as par for the course, the didn’t make it to the end so my husband took them home and let me stay to watch the movie. I’m looking forward to the Blu-Ray release (already) so we can watch it over and over again, complete with pausing it for potty breaks!
