Whether it’s making one of my favorite holiday cookies, planning dinner or an easy Valentine’s Day party, Safeway is my go to. Safeway and Albertsons stores make it really easy to plan. They have nearly everything I need, which makes my shopping a one-stop-shop.
Over the weekend my husband and I took our kids over to a friend, Evrim’s house for a movie and a pre-Valentine’s Day dinner.
When planning our simple Valentine’s meal, I checked out the recipes on Safeway’s website for some inspiration before I went shopping.

The quality, affordable O Organics® products at Safeway are fantastic, plus, they have a great assortment of exclusive O Organics® and Open Nature® beef and lamb products. As a bonus, my local Safeway has an awesome produce department, perfect for Valentine’s Day.
Perfect for Valentine’s Day, a wide variety of high-quality delicious grass-fed, free range, and natural or USDA-certified organic beef and grass-fed, free range, natural lamb from O Organics® and Open Nature®, can be found exclusively at Safeway and Albertsons stores. Safeway and Albertsons are the go-to destination for affordable, grass-fed, free range beef and lamb that doesn’t contain antibiotics or added hormones.
Not to be missed is the floral department, full of arrangements and décor items from the debi lilly design™ collection. I loved all of the choices in arrangements; the bouquets are a perfect gift for your valentine or as an arrangement for a party.
I gathered my ingredients, picked out a pretty arrangement for our friend, and grabbed some pedestal vases to fill with conversation hearts for the kids. Safeway has Duraflame fire logs too, so I picked one up to add some ambience to our evening.
This recipe for Barbecue Meatloaf is from Safeway, but instead of making a whole loaf, I used a silicone cupcake mold to make individual portions.
Barbecue Meatloaf Hearts
1 lb Open Nature® Ground Beef
1/2 cup KRAFT THICK ‘N SPICY Original Barbecue Sauce, divided
1/2 cup O Organics® old-fashioned or quick-cooking oats, uncooked
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1 O Organics® egg, beaten
PREHEAT oven to 375°F. Mix all ingredients except 1/4 cup of the barbecue sauce
SPRAY silicone muffin tin with O Organic Olive Oil spray
FILL muffin tins with meat mixture
BAKE 45 to 50 minutes or until cooked through (160°F). Let stand 5 minutes. Carefully remove hearts and place on plate. Top with remaining 1/4 cup barbecue sauce.
The Roasted Red Potatoes are super easy and a great recipe for kids to help prepare, just have to have an adult take them in and out of the oven. For the salad, you can choose from a variety of salad blends and add your favorite veggies. Dessert (which I confess got eaten before it could be photographed) is just some of our favorites from the Safeway bakery.
I’d say our pre-Valentine’s day dinner was a success, Evrim said we can come over and make dinner anytime. St. Patrick’s Day is coming up!
