We're only two weeks into summer vacation and my husband and I are in some serious need of some grown-up time. It's also been insanely hot here (for Seattle) which means doing anything during the day is pretty much a no go. The solution? Put the kids to bed, make M&M's® milkshakes, have an adult movie night and hope they don't hear the blender going.

Earlier this month we got a new trampoline in our backyard. It's been fantastic for the kids, and they've been bouncing their hearts out. But we also found that it makes the perfect set up for an outdoor movie theater. It doesn't really get dark enough here in Seattle until pretty late, which means most movie screenings are well after the kids go to bed.

Obviously, you can't watch movies without snacks, so it's an excuse to fire up the blender and make milkshakes. Not just any milkshake mind you, but vanilla milkshakes with M&M'®s and cookies. The kind you almost have to eat with a spoon because it's so deliciously chunky it won't fit through the straw.

    M&M's® & Cookie Milkshake

    (makes approx 1 16oz shake)
    Ingredients
    ¼ cup milk
2 ½ cups vanilla ice cream
    ¼ cup M&M's®
½ cup sandwich cookies, coarsely chopped

    Directions
Combine all milk and ice cream in blender until well mixed. Add M&M's® and cookies until just blended but not enough to emulsify them.

Pour into a glass and enjoy!

Now, we both love chocolate, so the milkshake just isn't enough. M&M's® make the perfect mix-in for snack mix, popcorn or all by themselves. And since the kids are in bed, we don't have to share.

    Yum! M&M's® milkshakes! #ShareFunshine AD

Another added bonus is it's adult movie night. Which means no cartoons on our personal silver screen, I mean white sheet. Instead, it's not kid appropriate movies like The Big Lebowski, The Hangover or maybe an old western (and we'll invite our neighbor over.)

M&M's® are the perfect companion to adult movie night #ShareFunshine AD

It goes without saying that M&M's® are a classic treat that can be enjoyed all summer long. Don't forget them when you head out the ball game, picnics and road trips. Plus, you can get three varieties (M&M's® Original, M&M's® Crispy, & M&M's® Peanut) in the XXL bags at Sam's Club so there are enough for everyone. I was sad that my Sam's CLub had no M&M's® Crispy, so you may have better luck than me!
Find M&M's® at your local Sam's Club #ShareFunshine AD

How do you enjoy your XXL big bag of M&M's®? What's your favorite variety? M&M's® Peanut? M&M's® Crispy or M&M's®Original?
