Adding Fall Fashion Colors into Capsule Wardrobe

This is a Fashionista Event Opportunity, and is hosted by Still Blonde after all these YEARS and Modly Chic.Street Chic Sweater, Skinny Jeans and Dansko boots

Incorporating your best fall fashion colors into your wardrobe is a great way to feel fresh, fashion-forward and fabulous. Monroe and Main Fall spotlight colors are: Cobalt, Red, Merlot, Orange & Aubergine!

Our summer days are coming to a close, tans are fading, and grey skies will soon be rolling in. While it’s tempting to embrace the dreary with dull colors, why not brighten your wardrobe with beautiful fall colors! Whether you go bold with a vibrant cobalt top, or a flashy red purse, or perhaps you’re a more subtle girl like me, with a sweater that has hints of aubergine, adding color to will brighten even the rainiest day!

The deep purple hue of aubergine has always been a favorite of mine, so when it started showing up as one of the hot colors for fall, I knew I’d be having some fun. Monroe and Main has some gorgeous fashion items to chose from and it wasn’t easy. There’s a catch too. I’m attempting to capsule my wardrobe. A capsule wardrobe is a collection of a few essential items of clothing that don’t go out of fashion. I knew I wanted a staple and a fashion piece, so I had to make choices on pieces that would really work in multiple situations. The trick with purple is you don’t want to go overboard.  Less is more.

I love the On My Side Top in aubergine. Not only will brighten up my face against the grey Seattle skies that are just around the corner, but it’s really flattering to my figure with it’s faux wrap top and 3/4 sleeves. Totally my style. The On My Side Top is a great closet staple that will be really flexible. My favorite pairing as a mom on the go is with my favorite tall leather boots, skinny jeans. It’s casual enough for Indian Summer at the beach but dressy enough to be paired with a pencil skirt for date night.

On My Side Top in Aubergine, a Fall Fashion Color from Monroe and Main

The Street Chic Sweater is one of my statement pieces for my fall wardrobe. This grey knit sweater is lightweight with accents that include aubergine. It’s stylish buttoned up with boots and jeans, and it’s going to be great layered over a t-shirt while I’m at Co-Op Preschool with my youngest.

The perfect sweater for at the beach!
Other great ways to wear aubergine is a pair of sassy boots, a handbag or a scarf. Because it is such a rich and vibrant color, you don’t want to do too much of it or you’ll look like an eggplant. And that’s not very fashionable.

I have at least a couple dozen favorites ~ the the one that really jumps out at me is the Sausalito Dress. For a number of reasons I guess, I love the colors and the style is very figure flattering. The colors not only make the dress’s “season” span two-three seasons, it also makes it easy to accessorize lots of different ways to create all kinds of unique looks. That makes it very versatile and perfect for travel too! Thanks.

  18. Jesselyn A/Jesstinger says:

I especially enjoyed: “Secret Strategy #31: Use the Color Wheel” : ~ Which led me to all kind of wardrobe and accessorizing ideas that I probably never would have considered before. It’s funny because I’ve used a color wheel for years when it comes to home decorating ~ and even gardening ~ but it never really occurred to me to use it when putting together an outfit or wardrobe. I think I’ve been stuck in a “Matching” mode rather than the risk-taking of “Mixing” it up! The Color Wheel gives me a boost in confidence and daring! Thanks.
