With 3.0 arriving in less than three months, it was time to transition Quincy to her big girl bed and give her room a little facelift. I admit, since we’ve moved in, we haven’t done a ton of decorating, and Quincy’s room seemed like as good of a place to start – especially since we had some really cute kids wall decals from My Wondeful Walls!
Here’s what her room looked like before:
I had her bed picked out at IKEA for months – the white Hemnes Day Bed. Of course, when we went to buy it we found it had been out of stock for sometime with no real date of when it was supposed to be back in the store – the told me the deliveries kept getting pushed back. Frustrating. I didn’t want to wait on her bed, because it is the center focus of her room!
We decided to go with the black/brown version of the Hemnes Day Bed, which I think in the long run we will be happier with anyway, and set up delivery for the next day.
The Wall Decals
With Quincy’s new bed assembled it was time to decorate a bit. I had intentions on painting first, but since I haven’t quite settled on a color, it would have to wait. A few weeks ago I had picked out some adorable garden themed wall decals from My Wonderful Walls and I was eager to get them up.
The stickers from My Wonderful Walls are NOT your ordinary decals. They are made from this unique material called SafeCling™, a fabric adhesive material that is repositionable, removable, and reusable. Three “R” words that are music to my ears.
Since we haven’t painted Quincy’s room (yet) there’s no need to wait the recommended two weeks before applying her new decals. This would have allowed time for the paint to fully dry and keep any bubbles from forming underneath the decals once they are placed. But even when we do paint – remember it’s no big deal because the wall decals are designed to be removed and reused!
Bugs & Blossoms Wall Sticker Kit
Putting up wall decals in Quincy’s room literally took minutes. We cleaned the walls first, to make sure there wasn’t a lot of dust or dirt and then chose which stickers we wanted to put up. Quincy was very cute and she wanted to help.
You have to peel the stickers off the paper slowly, so they don’t stick to each other, and watch the small antennas on the bugs, but it was pretty smooth sailing. It was so easy to adjust the wall stickers and they were very simple to layer!
Her room has a long way to go, we need to put her new bedding on and the rest of the decals, but I’m so happy with how this looks – it’s so sweet and playful!
One we get her room all set, we even have personalized sign for her room (it’s sold separately from the kit). I’m so excited because when I was growing up, it was so hard to get personalized things with my name – not the case anymore. I haven’t decided quite where I want it, since we still have a new shelf to buy, so I haven’t put it up yet. Don’t worry, I’ll share photos when I do!
What I love about My Wonderful Walls is there are so many choices! We still have 3.0’s room to decorate, so I have my eye on the nursery murals too! I’m not sure if I’ll get to them in the next few weeks, but I know if I do, it will be so easy.
If stickers aren’t your thing, My Wonderful Walls also has a great selection of wall stencils for those of you with a steadier hand than me.
