Halloween is just around the corner. We’re getting ready. Our front porch is decorated, with pumpkins awaiting to be carved, we have a stack of Halloween movies ready to watch, and we’ve moved on to snacks. I can’t tell you how many packs of Halloween OREO cookies we’ve gone through. Between Halloween snacks and costume ideas, it’s pretty intense around here.
My kids costume ideas have changed about a million times. Originally Sebby wanted to be one of those CloudPets stuffed toys we got earlier this summer, Quincy was going to be a Super Hero Princess, and Edison, I think Edison was just going with the flow. Then a box arrived with Power Rangers costumes, and despite the fact that the kids really haven’t seen the show, they all wanted to be Power Rangers. I’m fully prepared for that to change, I just hope they aren’t changing their minds next Friday. Considering even our cat Nixie has two Halloween costumes, it’s likely to happen.
It looks like we’re going to be celebrating Halloween non-stop for the next 10 days, so I need to get prepared. If there is something my kids love more than OREO cookies, it’s ice cream, followed shortly thereafter by “spicy” drinks. Spicy drinks basically mean ANYTHING sweet and carbonated. They’ve never had Fanta soda before (a staple of my childhood). I had to come up with something beyond the basic cookies and ice cream. That’s so last Halloween. I knew though, I would blow Quincy, Sebby & Edison away with a fun afternoon treat: “Fang-FANTA-tastic Sippies” My Fang-FANTA-tastic sippies would be a twist on a ice cream soda float – and perfect for our Halloween snacks repertoire.
I think for some added Halloween fun, we’ll have play “bowling” with the mini Fanta cans! After we’ve enjoyed the Fanta of course. I think it will be a simple game everyone will enjoy!
My Fang-FANTA-tastic sippies are super easy to make and the perfect addition to Halloween snacks. You can get everything you need for this delicious drink at your local Walmart.
Fanta Orange Soda
Crumbled mini OREO cookies
Your Favorite Vanilla Ice Cream
Using a melon baller, scoop out small scoops of your ice cream and put them in a small plastic cup. Place in freezer for about 10-15 minutes to harden slightly. Remove from freezer and slowly pour Fanta Orange over the ice cream. Top with whipped cream and crumbled OREO cookies. Enjoy with more OREO cookies!
But wait, there’s more!
