HEXBUG Shenanigans! #robots #review

Holiday Gift Guide Picks – For the Kids!

HEXBUG are super cool micro robotic creatures for kids and kids at heart. It’s hard to say who was more excited when the box arrived at our door! Getting their start in 2007, HEXBUG was designed to give children a positive experience with robotics at a young age!

You might be most familiar with the HEXBUG Nano. You know the little funny centipede looking things that vibrate around and can flip themselves over (not unlike a real bug?) That’s the Nano.

Here is the Nano in action, courtesy of the HEXBUG site:

Of course, when I was offered the chance to check out HEXBUG for myself, I couldn’t say no!

First up is Larva, just introduced to the HEXBUG family this fall. Larva is in a word, COOL. Larva has infrared sensor that enables it to detect and avoid objects in its path before ever coming into contact with them. Um, AWESOME! It’s actually a little freaky how it works. It didn’t take us long to build a little obstacle course to put HEXBUG Larva to the test.

Then of course, since we’re talking about ROBOTS, we had to try out a remote control HEXBUG, so we chose Inchworm. The HEXBUG Inchworm was the first of its kind to be equipped with a two-channel, IR remote control enabling users to operate multiple bugs with one remote or race two bugs with two remotes. Now how cool is that?!?!?! I think that another Inchworm may make it’s way into my husband’s stocking this year, just so we have an excuse to race!

Inchworm and Larva battle it out!

We’re loving that HEXBUG is much more than a toy. There is some real genius behind there design. Be sure to check out their website for the latest news, more bugs, and video content!

If you’re looking for a fun gift, whether it’s for a birthday or the holidays, be sure to add HEXBUG to your list! Also, one of our readers will have the opportunity to win TWO HEXBUG Nanos in the Trick or Treat Halloween Hop! Stay tuned!
