Holiday Meal planning made easy with {giveaway 11/25}

Thanksgiving is a week away.

7 days from now, when the kids are sleeping in, and my husband is at his desk, sipping his morning coffee that I thoughtfully set to brew the night before, I will be standing in my kitchen looking like a deer in headlights.

Because it will be Thanksgiving. Which means mass cooking. Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, cranberry sauce (homemade), biscuits….. you get the idea.

Now, as far as I know, we aren’t going anywhere for dinner, and no one is coming over (though some folks might change their mind after reading this post)

With the exception of buying a turkey, I do most of my Thanksgiving meal planning at the last minute. It’s actually probably a habit I should get out of.

Thankfully, this year is the year I get to plan, because I’ll have some help thanks to
Last night I downloaded the Safeway Chef Assistant app for my iPhone. This cool little app has step by step instructions on how to roast my turkey in less than two hours! And it even includes a timer! How awesome is that. No wondering if it’s time to baste or rotate your bird, the app reminds you! I’m a total gadget geek, so I cannot wait to try this app.

I also will be checking out to review recipes, entertaining ideas, wine pairings and other helpful tips. I can pick and choose my favorites for my family and save them for future inspirations too. The Change Up Cranberry Sauce looks AMAZING and it’s going to be hard to go wrong with the Mashed 5-Spice Sweet Potatoes.

While I am out shopping for my groceries this weekend, I can use my mobile phone to visit and dive into the Holiday Hints that dole out servings of inspiration to make Thanksgiving special!

On Black Friday, when everyone else is out shopping, I will be making the most out of my Thanksgiving leftovers with the array of Leftover Makeover recipes. I plan on cooking a big meal, so there will be LOTS of yummy leftovers.

For some preholiday giggles, head over to the Safeway Facebook page and play the LOL Turkey Game. Make the turkey laugh to be entered for a chance to win a $100 Safeway gift card!

  1. I like to cook extra of whatever meat I used for the main dish. Then use it later in the week for another meal. Saves time and makes cooking easier.

  2. Plan your shopping list. Shop your shopping list and don’t bring the kids. 🙂

  3. Making a weekly menu helps a lot! Also, I cook 2 nights out of the week and my husband cooks 2, the 5th night we have left overs and the weekend is free for all 🙂 It helps take the load off our backs and doesn’t feel like we’re doing a lot of cooking.
