This post is a sponsored conversation about learning more about the March of Dimes and how every child is born to do something important. Don’t forget to read my personal story here about my own premature baby. I’m part of a team of 39 moms that represent what is considered a full term pregnancy.
Even though Sebby spent some time in the NICU after complications during his birth, I didn’t really get involved or even that aware of the March of Dimes until Quincy was born. It’s really unfortunate that it two complicated births for me to become more aware of such an amazing charity.
I think that needs to change. So here are some ways you can support the March of Dimes.
Encourage your friends and family to join you in the March for Babies. Whether they walk with you, walk in their own city or make a donation, it’s a great way for them to get involved.
Talk about it.
If you’re already a supporter of the March of Dimes, share your experiences! Use Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, email and more. One of the challenges I had as a preemie mom was feeling pretty sheltered. Having a baby in the NICU is hard. People often don’t know what to say so they don’t say anything at all.
Get together with friends and talk about your babies! Why not have a party or playdate and share adorable gifts for the new babies or babies to be!
Pick out new booties for new cousins and friends.
Learn about how favorite brands give back to the March of Dimes.
Send friends home with a special gift.
Make donations to the NICU.
Many times babies are in the NICU for a very long time. They will need cute clothes to wear in their isolettes and cribs when they are ready (clothes were a huge milestone for both my NICU babies) – consider taking clothes and blankets to your local NICU.
Want to know else you can do to help March of Dimes help babies? What if I told you that you could help just by shopping? Yes, shopping! That’s what I call a win-win.
Buy from these participating retailers, a portion of the proceeds will go towards helping the March of Dimes.
Did you know that Kmart has been hosting the #1 March of Dimes fundraiser for more than 30 years? From now through June 20, 2015 Kmart will donate $1 from both in-store or online purchases of each special puppy figurine to the March of Dimes. Even better? They have already pledged a minimum donation of $30,000 to March of Dimes to help support healthy babies.
Have you visited the Mud Pie website? Holy cuteness, right? Well, Mud Pie believes that every baby deserves the chance to start life healthy – from head to toe. For the remainder of 2015, Mud Pie will donate a dime from every purchase of baby headbands and socks to the March of Dimes, with a minimum donation of $150,000 in 2015.
If you follow me on social media, you already know how much I adore ALEX AND ANI bracelets. But, as if I didn’t already love them enough, now I’ve got even more of a reason to buy every bracelet I have on my wishlist, including their Special Delivery Charm Bangle. I think I speak for all moms when I say that they would love one of these special edition charms to celebrate the blessing that is motherhood. And, from now until December 2015, ALEX AND ANI will donate 20% of the purchase price from each Special Delivery Charm Bangle, with a minimum donation of $25,000 to the March of Dimes.
Throughout May you can get a fragrance atomizer for just $1 with any $75 fragrance purchase, which can be filled with your choice of fragrance. And, 100% of the atomizer purchase will benefit the March of Dimes. Would you rather get a coupon? Donate $3 and get 25% off any Bon-Ton, Bergners, Boston Store, Carson’s, Elder-Beerman, Herberger’s or Younkers online order. Bon-Ton has pledged a minimum of $100,000 in 2015 to March of Dimes.
I have a theory about how every baby deserves jewelry. Not for them, but for their amazing mothers who brought them into the world. What better place to buy than a family-owned jeweler who understands the importance of family and celebrating babies. A&E Jewelers has a special collection that includes the Swarovski encrusted sterling silver March of Dimes Enchanted “Healthy Beginnings” Necklace that is available in three stone options. And, from now until the end of the year, they will donate 20% of the sales of this necklace with a minimum of $110,000 in 2015.
A meal out is a treat for any new parent and now you can donate at Emeril Restaurants in New Orleans, Las Vegas, and Orlando. From 6/7/15-6/21/15 you can donate with your meal and help babies. Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia and Meredith Corporation have pledged a minimum donation of $350,000 in 2015. You can also join the #THX2U movement by simply uploading a baby picture of your child, grandchild, or yourself using the hashtag #THX2U, and $10 of the Emeril/MSLO/Meredith donation will be recognized for each uploaded photo in support of the imbornto campaign. How awesome is that?
Side Note: I was sent lots of beautiful MudPie booties to share with friends and their babies. Since MudPie sent MORE than enough to share, the majority of them will be donated to the NICU here in Seattle that so wonderfully cared for Sebby and Quincy so other babies may enjoy them.
