According to Patricia Shultz, there are 1000 Places to See Before You Die. Which basically means most of us need to hire a personal travel agent right? Shultz’s bestselling book, 1,000 Places to See Before You Die has recently been re-released in the form of a full-color second edition. The new version includes 200 additional pages covering 28 new countries – AND includes the best time of year to go and even the time of day! There’s even a new iPad app for you tech geeks out there!

When the book arrived, it was like a paperweight. Heavy. 1000+ pages of daunting travel. 1000+ pages of amazing travel. I flipped through the book to look up some of the places I’ve been. I’m not exactly a world traveler but I was pleased to see that some of my chosen destinations were cool enough to make the list. Perhaps I am worldly after all, right?

I like that the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland made the book. After all, I grew up there. Nothing quite beats standing on the edge of the dock as a kid, with a string tied to a chicken bone, plunking it down in the water and minutes later, pulling up a blue crab (or two). I’m pretty sure there are rules and regulations in place to prohibit that kind of crabbing now. 🙂

Other obvious locations I’ve been to are Las Vegas, the Eiffel Tower in Paris, to the British Museum or the Tate Modern in London, England the Low Country in South Carolina. I need to sit down and mark off in one color the places I’ve been, and use another for those I want to go to!

Check out this cool clip about the book:

I’m thinking this would be a nice Father’s Day gift. I imagine the number of places my Dad has seen in this book is quite impressive. 🙂

Well, I can’t promise that it will get to you by Father’s Day, but I do have three copies of 1,000 Places to See Before You Die to give to three lucky readers! This giveaway is also open to Canada. As always, it’s void where prohibited. 🙂
