I really regret getting early family photos taken when Sebby was born. He was about a year and a half when we got our first professional photos taken. Now we see a photographer at least once or twice a year to capture our family.

I love our family photos, we always make a day of it, getting our pictures taken and then doing something fun with the kids. It makes it a really enjoyable experience!

Clothing always seems to be a challenge. There is a definite balance of not wanting to be overly matchy, but complement each other. I actually found some super cute dresses on jcpenney.com I wanted my daughter Quincy and I to wear for her birthday session in June, and it doesn’t come in my size. So sad! I pinned a few ideas on Pinterest for inspiration, and hopefully I can find a similar dress.

You’ll hear a lot of different advice on what to wear. Personally, I think the key is to find something you like that you are comfortable in. If you are out of your comfort zone, whether it’s everyone wearing jeans and a white t-shirt when you normally where dressy clothes, or portraits in formal frocks when you normally where cords and flannel, it’s going to show in your pictures.  One of the  most important things. is to keep everyone in a similar style. You can always talk to the portrait photographer ahead of time about your personality and what backgrounds might work for you. Don’t be afraid to take a change of clothes too! I know I do, especially for the kids. We also bring the kids some of their favorite things for the photos, it makes it more personal.

Our family photos have been both in studios and on location. I like them both for different reasons. Studio shoots are almost always more affordable, even when you go to a private photographer like I do once a year. If you haven’t captured your family this year, check out jcpportraits’ April promotion of $20 for 6 traditional portrait sheets (mix and match size and images) as well as one free $9 sitting fee. That’s a really reasonable price for the memories!

jcpenney has what seems to be unlimited options and ideas to suit everyones needs, their portrait studio has lots of great tips and suggestions whether you are capturing your newborns first smiles, a senior portrait, an engagement photo or a business portrait.

Want to schedule your session? jcpenney has portrait studios nationwide, it’s easy to find the location near you to take advantage of the April promo! You just enter your email on the locator on their website and go!

Disclaimer: I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of jcpenney Portrait Studio. I was asked to create a Pinterest Board and pin at least five (5) pins. I give jcpenney the right to repin any or all images/original content from this board. I received a promotional item as a thanks for my participation.
