Remember growing up and your Mom would come into your room with a big black Glad Trash Bag and tell you you weren’t leaving your room until you had cleaned it up. Your automatic response was that it wasn’t trash, but treasure.

Well…

You were probably right.

Sorry Mom.

Mom didn’t know that Picker Sisters are teaming up with Glad® Black Bag and Keep America Beautiful to celebrate and cleanup life’s wild moments and then find incredible and smart ways to reuse the trash.

The Picker Sister’s find ways to reuse discarded items, from torn upholstery on a chair or an old coffee table. They want you to repurpose and reuse. They’ve partnered with celebrated mosaic artist Jason Mecier who created four works of art utilizing people’s trash or “wild life remnants”. These works of art will be auctioned off during the Glad® Black Bag art auction on eBay for consumers to bid on, from April 16 through April 26, with proceeds benefiting KAB’s Great America Cleanup.

The Wild Life Duck is my favorite…

Now that I’m an adult (ha!) with my own kids, I haven’t threatened them with the trash bag to clean up their rooms, but I do use them myself, especially when I’m collecting things for donation. Do you know how much you can get into a Glad Trash Bag? A lot. I’m talking clothes, toys and more! I found another fabulous use for them too – covering furniture that I have in storage (so I don’t have to worry about critters!)

  1. Always live by that mantra and you shouldn’t have a problem saving trash for a rubbish bin. If you see someone litter, pick up their trash behind them or encourage that person not to litter. We all see trash on the ground when we’re out and about. If you happen to, pick it up and throw it out — even if it’s not yours..

  2. Reaffirms that one person’s junk is another person’s treasure. That is very cool that it can be repurposed into art. Great ideas.
