New nightgown, K-Y Liquibeads, ready for the freedom to be spontaneous. #TheMoodStrikes #ad #cbias
1992. Do the math. That’s twenty-two years ago. Twenty-two years since I first met my husband in that college cafeteria. Twenty-two years since I went up to him while he was eating breakfast with my friend Jennifer and said something along the lines of “Hi, I am Kerri, who are you?” Oh yes, at 17 (17!!) I was the epitome of cool. I took the freedom to be spontaneous (and sometimes a bit ridiculous) and I embraced it.

Back in 1992, I was so cool. #TheMoodStrikes #ad #cbias

Twenty-two years later. We celebrate our 8th anniversary next March (hey sometimes it takes people awhile to figure these things out.) First of all, I do not have the same energy I did as a 17 year old, nor do I have the flexibility, or the stamina or the… well, you get the idea. While the sheets still see action, it’s not really the same kind of action. And the freedom to be spontaneous? It’s a whole new story.

Ok, first off, do you know how hard it is to find time to well, you know when you have THREE KIDS. I mean, clearly we have THREE KIDS so we do still find the time, but it does get harder. I totally confess to imposing impromptu nap times to orchestrate getting needs met. Or bribing with movies. Or locking doors…

And then the bedroom looks like this. Yes, that’s a kids pillowcase. And my laptop. I sometimes hide in the bedroom to work.

A messy bedroom is no good. #TheMoodStrikes #ad #cbias

Not exactly romantic, right?

Since we’re headed into winter break, I thought I’d do a mini bedroom makeover to make those moments a little more fun. I picked up some LED candles (because who has time to find matches), new flannel sheets (I promise, flannel can lead to passion) and a new (very short) nightgown. Don’t let the plaid fool you. We all know about school girls right?

Oh, and K-Y ® Liquibeads. Those are the KEY to being ready to go at a moments notice. Okay, let me tell you, this is genius. Why should men get all the ready to go goods? This personal lubricant is my answer to being ready (along with that cute new nightgown).

1. The K-Y® Liquibeads comes with a little applicator sorta like, well, you know that thing you use during certain times of the month.
2. You just insert a bead into the applicator.
3. Then insert the loaded applicator into your, well, you know, once every few days and you’ll always be ready.
4. If you are pregnant or nursing, you should first consult a doctor before using.

Looking for the freedom to be spontaneous? Head to Target and you’ll find K-Y® Liquibeads right in the personal care aisle. Don’t forget to print this coupon from coupons.com to save $1 off any K-Y® product before you go. While you’re there, pick up some new sheets like I did and give yourself a mini bedroom makeover! Who knows what might happen!

Winter break is coming up, time is going to be limited. Here’s to hoping the mini bedroom makeover inspires us to spice things up a little, with or without the mistletoe, thanks to K-Y® Liquibeads. And here’s to twenty-twenty two more years.

  1. Life around here gets crazy! I just talked about this same topic. Carving out a day to actually BE spontaneous is how we roll!

  2. It is so hard to be spontaneous, especially in a small house with two kids. We try to sneak it in when the kids re sleeping or out with school activities,

  3. Sounds like a great product. I can’t imagine how hard it is it o make time with three kids for special moments.

  4. With three kids and both of us working, it’s hard to find time to even talk let alone anything else. lol. But a bedroom makeover would definitely help.

  5. We have been together for about 15 years. I think that our biggest challenge is finding enough time. A mini bedroom makeover is a great idea to spend more time together.

  6. i really liked your mini bedroom makeover. I will definitely have to look into having a mini bedroom makeover myself!

  7. I feel your pain, we’ve 3 under 3, plus two at 11 and 9 – the days of living room floors are now behind us. We usually find our alone time early in the morning, often after a wake up from one of the kids for water or whatnot.

  8. Amy Desrosiers says:

I love giving my husband and I’d space a makeover too. It really helps to improve the mood.

  9. I have a pile of stuff on my bed like that, too! lol It gets more difficult to be spontaneous. Glad there are products like this to help! Gorgeous wedding photo, too!

  10. Sounds like a great product to have handy for those romantic personal moments with hubby.

  11. Thanks for sharing on such a personal (and potentially awkward) subject. I loved reading your story! I heard about KY Liquibeads recently, elsewhere, and I’ll admit I’m intrigued. I need to ask my doctor about them, though, as we’re hoping to get pregnant, and if they’re potentially unsafe for nursing or breastfeeding, they’re likely not sperm-friendly, either.

  12. SO lately, I’ve done exactly NOTHING to spice up my relationship, but all I really have to do to get my husband to notice me is walk by him. He’s 7 years younger than me which puts him square in his sexual prime. It worries me a little that perhaps any time a female wafts by him he gets a semi. OH well, at least he’s coming home to play with me! I do need things to be a little more spicy for my own needs, so I really should go to the store and buy some, um. . . things. #client
