In addition to getting a sneak peek of Beverly Hills Chihuahua 3: Viva la Fiesta! before it hit store shelves this week, there was also an opportunity to interview the director (Lev L. Spiro), producer (Sara E. White), and one of the dog trainers! Here’s some cool take away facts from the two sessions:
Did you know just like humans, dogs have stunt doubles. And that just like humans, dogs don’t always use them? It’s true, and in fact, while Chloe never used her stunt double, Papi used his twice.
Or how about that there were 27! dogs cast in Beverly Hills Chihuahua 3! The big scene that needed all of those pooches? Rosa’s Quinceanera that was filmed over a 3 day period. Some scenes can take up to 8 days to film! (WOW)
Of those 27 dogs 95% of them were rescues! Not only that, many found forever homes after the film. Yes, that fact made me want to go adopt a dog.
Much like human actors, dogs are trained to go to their mark or spot. This makes it easier for the camera to follow them while filming the scenes. It takes LOTS of treats (lots and lots) and about 3 months of training to prepare each dog for a film. Two months of basic training and one month of movie training.
Honestly, that’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to developing a dog’s acting skills. Personality, training and other dogs all come into play.
Thanks to Disney for providing the following images from the Q&A sessions and doggie training…
In addition to the Q&A and doggie training, we had the opportunity to ask questions of Papi and Chloe. I knew my mom’s Min-Pin, Eva, who desperately wanted to attend Blogger Day with me would have some very specific questions she wanted answered.
Chloe – Is it really true Harry Winston designed that beautiful necklace for you? Did you talk about the design? And more importantly, can I borrow it sometime?A lady never reveals her secrets, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have a paw in designing it. And while I’m always a fan of trading clothes with friends, this Chihuahua’s got her limits- I’d feel naked without my necklace!
Papi – I love your determination in teaching puppies – was being a teacher always your inner calling? What’s your favorite thing to teach?
Growing up on the streets, I always dreamed of doing something important. And there’s no more important job in the world than teaching! My favorite subjects to teach the pups are the ones that really matter in life- like my new course on recycling: the art of turning trash into dinner.
Papi and Chloe – What is your favorite thing about living at the Langham Pasadena? The gourmet treats? The beautiful gardens? The massages? I hope to visit someday, so this Min Pin needs to know what sights to see and do!
Chloe: There’s so much to love about living at The Langham! They just introduced a new full service Doggie Program with plush dog beds, spa menu, and even canine room service! So they really know how to pamper a pooch- even one from Beverly Hills.
Papi: There are big grassy spaces overlooking the mountains, ponds, waterfalls, and walkways overflowing with flowers- which means a whole lot of romantic places to surprise mi corazon with a picnic!
Disclosure: I was invited on an all expenses paid press trip for Beverly Hills Chihuahua 3. No other form of compensation was received, and all opinions are 100% honest and have not been influenced in any way
