Seeing as I’m leaving TOMORROW, I better get my a$$ in gear and start packing for BlogHer in Chicago. Thanks to Philips AVENT I’ll be headed to the conference to learn, network, and let’s be honest, just have fun!
So I’m writing this post for me just as much as I am for you. I have a few affiliate links in here because everyone likes to make a few pennies and some of this stuff is sponsored – I’ll let you know when a brand sent me something too.
First off I use packing cubes for clothing. It just makes it easier. I also use extra wet bags for makeup, miscellaneous cords and what not. It keeps everything contained.
I’ll be bringing a baby to BlogHer again, just like I did in 2011. I’ll either be wearing Edison in my trusty lillebaby carrier (the same one I used with Quincy, or he’ll be cruising in a Groove Ultralight stroller, complements of Joovy.
What am I wearing? A few weeks ago I reached out to some of my favorite brands for some wardrobe supplementation. I have to fun new nursing dresses from Seraphine Maternity and Pink Blush, new cord flares from Lee Jeans and of course, a new pair of red shoes from Dansko! Don’t let the stock photos fool you. I’m not expecting again. I just have a lousy full length mirror and you’ll see me at BlogHer anyway!
I’ll have some other dresses with me, including this adorable one I got at Mod Cloth, another pair of red shoes, and a few fun tops. I am well aware it’s going to be hot and sticky and I’ll be carrying around a baby.
As far as toiletries and whatnot I just take the basics. I’m a basics girl here in Seattle, but you’ll probably get a little lip gloss and flat ironed hair out of me.
In addition to the stroller, I have some new goodies for Edison too, including an adorable bodysuit and pants outfit from Kushies (he’ll be wearing it on the plane to stay cozy) and a new diaper bag from Two Red Hens. I also have a custom bodysuit for him from my friend Julie’s shop, It’s a Preemie Thing. We normally cloth diaper, but for sanity’s sake he’ll be in Seventh Generation disposables. It will make traveling easier and I don’t have to gross my roommates out washing flats in the bathtub. Nice of me, right? (By the way, stay tuned for reviews of Edison’s goodies from Kushies and Two Red Hens.)
Mobile Hotspot: My super awesome AT&T rep Andy lent me a AT&T Unite so I wouldn’t have to worry about Internet while I am traveling. I think this will be especially nice when I am at the airport, but I know sometimes the hotel Internet gets taxed too, so I have a back up!
An extended battery: I cannot stress this enough. You WILL burn through your battery on your phone. There are NOT enough plugs to charge it. Do yourself HUGE favor and get an extended battery like the New Trent. I used one last year and I love it. It’s so handy. Bonus, it has two USB ports so you can save someone else too!
I also have my Samsung WB200 camera I bought during a Social Fabric Shoppertunity a while back should I want an alternative to my iPhone 4s camera.
And of course if you’ve ever been in a hotel room, you know that plugs are lacking, so I have my trusty Belkin adaptor which not only has 3 extra plugs, but USB ports too. Hooray!
The Final Tip
So with all this stuff I’m bringing, where’s the room for the swag? I’ll share a secret for with you. I pack all of this into my small rolling suitcase that I can carry on the plane if I need to. But remember, I have Edison with me, so I shove this bad boy into a large rolling suitcase aka my bright plaid Burton bag. The bonus? It’s sturdy and holds a ton of swag. 🙂 I am checking everything, and I have a gogoBabyz Deluxe Travlemate that I’m hoping to strap Edison’s carseat to while I’m in the airport – I didn’t get the adaptor for it, so let’s hope it works!
Disclosure: Again, thanks to the awesome brands who sponsored goodies for Edison and I on our trip. Other products mentioned came out of my own pocket, and yes, there are affiliate links too.
