Putting the pen and paper aside…

It’s a lot harder for me to sit down nowadays and grab a moment to myself. In fact, the only thing that probably gets hand written is the grocery list.

Which brings me to today’s prompt.

When you are writing, do you prefer to use a pen or a computer?

There is nothing quite like the feel of a really nice pen in your hands, the way it’s tip glides across the paper, the almost silent scratches as your words flow across the page. The curves of the letters forming words, the sentences,  and then paragraphs.

Since I have spent more time writing, I’ve done most of it on the computer. My handwriting has suffered but there are less words scratched out, less errors made due to the power of the delete key. The magic is gone in a way, but it’s also still there, in an odd way. Auto correct erases errors in a flash, word counts appear before your eyes, and at a click of a button, my words are seen by thousands. Okay, maybe not thousands. I’m not sure how many people read my blog anyway. 🙂

So I guess while my true love is a pen and old spiral bound notebook, she has been replaced by my 13″ Mac Book Pro with a backlit keyboard…

Ahhh technology.
