Quincy’s Big Girl Room Makeover – The Bedding!

Crib bedding begone! Quincy has a big girl bed and big girl beds mean new bedding. Not too long ago we added some adorable wall decals from My Wonderful Walls. I still have more to put up, but since we haven’t finalized furniture placement, I didn’t want to add them just yet.

In December I had been checking out Beyond Bedding for some kids bedding sets for her room. I was amazed at the selection and it was actually a little hard to choose. I consulted with my friend Leanne and we decided that the Olivia Pink and Green Girls Kids & Teen Bedding from Sweet Jojo Designs would look the best in her room. The four piece bedding set came with a bedspread, pillow sham, bed skirt and bedskirt. For $99 it was a great value!

Part of Quincy’s Christmas present was a big girl bed, so we headed down to IKEA to pick it up, I wanted something that would look great with her new kids bedding set I had ordered! I was bummed to find out (but only a little) that the bed we had wanted was on backorder so we chose the Hemnes Day Bed. It ended up being the right choice.

My mom found an amazing deal on Amazon for a memory foam mattress and ordered them for both the kids. Yes, that’s right, my children currently have nicer mattresses than I do! Mom and I also picked out some really adorable flannel sheets with butterflies on them that looked great with the wall decals.

Now it was time for her new Beyond Bedding! I was a little apprehensive when the care instructions on the bedding said to lay the bedding flat to dry. It’s just not practical, especially in the winter or when there isn’t really a place to lay it out! Bummer! Not a great idea for kid bedding. I threw caution to the wind and put it in the dryer on low heat. It washed and dried beautifully. I do not recommend ignoring washing instructions without taking some cautions – I don’t want to be responsible for anything getting ruined!

Quincy’s new bedding looks great! We still need to hang her valance (it’s on our to do list) and since she has a daybed we don’t need to use the bedskirt. I may actually cut the ruffle (shhh) and use it to decorate her room in other places, but I haven’t decided yet!

I love how her room is coming together, I can’t wait until it’s finished, it’s going to look really great!
