I can’t tell you how old I was when I first heard the stories of Alice’s adventures down the rabbit hole. Or how many times I heard it. I have lots of childhood memories surrounding the girl with the flaxen hair, the White Rabbit and the evil queen. Some of them may even be the tiniest bit embarrassing (like in 2nd grade my school put on a musical performance of Alice in Wonderland). But what I really remember, is reading Alice in Wonderland at bedtime. Now that I’m a mom, I’ve made reading one of our bedtime routines.

Reading Alice in Wonderland

Last week I was giving the opportunity to relive my memories of Alice in Wonderland and review the new Alicewinks iBook. Quincy and I have been “reading” it on my iPad at bedtime, and she just loves it. I think our favorite part is how interactive it is with all of the beautiful illustrations. Alicewinks makes reading Alice in Wonderland come to life!

There is the option to read the book or have it play Audio, and since I am not very good at different voices, I let the audio play – I just can’t compete with 19 different voices AND music. A wise choice IMO. In addition to Quincy being in control of the story (I let her hold my iPad while Alicewinks is playing) the iBook plays a chapter at a time, so it’s perfect for bedtime since each chapter is about 10-15 minutes. A real perk. That doesn’t mean she doesn’t get MAD when the chapter is over. Oh man.

Sharing Alice in Wonderland with Quincy has been a real treat for me. Things have changed a lot since I was a little girl and was reading Alice in Wonderland, and I love to be able to share it with Quincy this way! In celebration of the 150th Anniversary of Alice’s Adventure’s in Wonderland, Alicewinks brings the story’s classic illustrations to life for digital audiences through animated video and rich narration. If you want to experience reading Alice in Wonderland in a whole new way, you can download the Alice in Wonderland iBook on iTunes.
