Thanks to The Motherhood for sponsoring this post on sanity savers for moms.

Don't let the sleeping toddler fool you. You’d think after having 3 kids that parenting advice would come naturally. But in reality, there are always new sanity savers for moms that I come across that really make a difference. I can’t tell you how many times I hear something and think:

WHY didn’t anyone ever tell me that?!?
HOW come I didn’t think of this XX years ago?

6 Sanity Savers for Moms

These nuggets of information are gold to moms new and old, and for me, some of them were game changers.

Layer all things!
Back when my oldest was a baby, I remember reading on BabyCenter about making the crib up with several sets of sheets and crib liners to make nighttime blowouts. Don’t stop when your little ones move out of the cribs. Accidents still happen, and having an extra mattress protector and sheet on the bed make it that much easier to clean things up. Especially if you have an upset child – It makes a world of difference.

Have extra clothes.
Speaking of changing sheets, you never know when a potty accident or a spilled meal is going to wreck havoc on your child’s world. Trust me, having extra clothes stashed in a bag in my minivan has been more than a sanity saver for moms more than one time. While you’re at it, throw in a extra shirt for you . Trust me. (Side note, same goes for airline travel. Bring a change of clothes in your carry on bag.)

Back up toys and lovies.
This seems really obvious but whether it’s a blanket or a toy car, having a backup is brilliant. We came dangerously close to losing a favorite blankie. It only took one time, but I quickly learned it was wise to have a backup plan. Of course, this resulted in having 23798273912798 Lightening McQueens in our house, but it helps with a lot of meltdowns.

Embrace the chaos.
I know it seems counter intuitive, but being around other moms and kids during the witching ours can actually HELP relieve stress because you can sympathize with each other. In the end of everyone wins because you get time with your friends and your kids get to play too.

Quiet time is sacred.
Whether you call it nap time or quiet time, do what you can to avoid disruptions during these precious hours. For me, quiet time is when I get critical daytime work done. It allows ME to have some time to myself during the day (sort of ) but it also allows my kids downtime to rest – whether they sleep or just play quietly in their rooms.

Keep an eye on things.
My youngest may be 3, but a baby monitor is still my saving grace. The AT&T Smart Sync™ 5” Internet Viewable Touch Screen Video Monitor has been a fantastic for keeping an eye on him in his room. The portability of monitor is awesome, and I’m loving that it can be used with our compatible smart phones too!

  1. Cassandra Eastman says:

My sanity saver is also one that you mentioned, to have back up lovies. My 12 month olds lovie is a Fox wubbanub. Now, he has a Dinosaur and Owl wubbanub (which I thought were backups) but they are apparently not the same.. because his Fox broke last week which was super bad timing since he was extra fussy from teething, and I couldn’t get another one for an ENTIRE day. It was probably the longest day of my and my 12 month olds life. Never making that mistake again!

  2. Kristin Goodson says:

My sanity saver tip is to take advantage of naptime and bedtime. That means to take time out for YOU! Forget the laundry and the dishes.. mommas need to relax in able to be the best mom they can be.

  3. My sanity saver is the phone where I can call to check up on them when not home.
