Sea Food differently at Red Lobster.

Shortly before the holidays (ok, I’m a little behind here) my family and I headed up to Red Lobster to try out their new menu. I know what you’re thinking, what’s a born and raised fishing town girl like you who transplanted to Seattle doing going to Red Lobster.

But hear me out. It wasn’t what I expected. At all. In a good way.

We checked out the Maine Stays menu, which has 15 great entree options for under $15. Affordable pricing meant our family could get a delicious seafood dinner without emptying our wallet. Not to mention the kids menu had great choices too, even if they decided to go for the Mac n Cheese!

I’m a sucker for bacon and shrimp, so my eyes immediately went to the Bacon Wrapped Shrimp. Now, let me start off by saying the peach-bourbon BBQ sauce was amazing on the Bacon Whapped Shrimp. Super tasty. But I was a little bummed that the shrimp really wasn’t WRAPPED in bacon. It was a slice of bacon laid across a skewer of shrimp. And not nearly enough Pico de Gallo. Not what I expected. But still delicious.

My husband opted for the Blue Cheese Sirloin and a Lobster tail. Now, I didn’t have any of his meal, but his steak was cooked perfectly. And I’m guessing the lobster was too because our 2 1/2 year old kept asking for bites! His meal was the perfect pairing with a baked potato and broccolini (mmmm).

Aside from the menu, the service was beyond exceptional. Our server was incredibly patient with us and our kids, and she made sure we had everything we needed. We’ve been to several restaurants that give the illusion of being family friendly that really weren’t so this experience was definitely a welcome change!

The verdict? For this seafood loving girl, I’m not sure Red Lobster would be my first choice since we have so many local options , but for a land lubber who’s craving a great catch at affordable prices? Then definitely, Red Lobster and their excellent menu is a great pick!

Disclosure: I received a Red Lobster gift card that paid for a portion of my meal. Regardless, my opinion and experiences are my own.

  1. Oh, my family LOVES Red Lobster! Truthfully, I rarely get to eat much because I can’t crack the crab fast enough for the kiddos to eat it 🙂

  2. We’re spoiled we have so many choices around here, but when I’m traveling I love Red Lobster for a little bit of home wherever I roam 🙂

  3. We haven’t been to Red Lobster in ages but every once in a while I crave their biscuits. I just saw at Sams last weekend that they carry the biscuits in the frozen foods section!

  4. I love Red Lobster! That mac-n-cheese looks delish and I would love to try the Caesar Salad Salmon! 🙂

  5. Oh yeah… we got a gc to Red Lobster from my sister in law for Christmas… that blue cheese sirloin sounds right up my alley! We just may have to venture there this weekend and use our gc before #3 joins us!

  6. It’s been a while since we’ve been to Red Lobster but I remember how much I loved their biscuits. Who knew a fish place would be remembered for their bread!
