I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Welch’s. I received product samples to facilitate my review, a gift code to giveaway, and a promotional item as a thank you for participating.
When I got pregnant with Edison, Alan and I knew it would be the end to our impromptu road trips until we bought a car that would fit three car seats. Basically, outside of the home, it meant we’d have to give up some of our quality time with family. Given how much we love our little road trips, we knew that would be hard on us. The picnic cooler full of snacks like Welch’s jelly sandwiches and grape juice would be relegated to the back yard.
Edison is now almost 6 months old. Last week we bought our new mini van, which meant that this past weekend was chock full of quality time with family. All three kids fit in the back seat of the van! Yesterday we took a long awaited drive up to Bellingham, WA and back – including a “detour” on Chuckanut Drive, one of our favorite mini trips. It’s scenic no matter the season and it’s an easy day trip.
You may argue that it’s not really quality family time because Sebby has his iPad, but I disagree. Trust me on this one! He happily played his spelling and math apps on the drive to Bellingham, and on the way back played with the new Planes toys we picked up for him 🙂
Today we decided to have a lunch picnic! We packed up some peanut butter and Welch’s Grape Jelly sandwiches, GoGo Squeez, animal crackers and Welch’s grape juice and headed to the playground at Sebby’s new school! He’s starting kindergarten this week so it was a great way for him to show him his school and spend quality time with family.
With school starting this week, we’ll start focusing on family time around the dinner table – talking about our day and what we learned at school. I’m also really excited that Edison is THISCLOSE to sitting up unassisted, which means he get’s to start sitting with us at the family table too, and enjoying those family moments. Before I know it, he’ll be eating grape jelly sandwiches too (without the peanut butter of course!)
I love spending quality time with my family. Life is so hectic that sometimes it gets a little crazy, and it’s important to find the little moments that we can, whether it’s a picnic in the park, or around the dinner table.
What you would do if you had an extra hour of quality time with family every day?
