In our house, whine-o-clock doesn’t happen at bedtime. Oh no. Not even close. Sometime between 7:30ish AM and when my alarm on my phone goes off to tell the kids it’s time to put on their shoes, there’s at least one meltdown. Sometimes it’s epic. You know, because someone’s socks are the wrong color.
And without fail, this meltdown happens about 2 minutes after I’ve poured my tea. That sweet spot when it’s just about ready to drink and bask in it’s glorious warmth before I go stand in the Seattle rain and wait for the school bus to pull up. If I’m lucky I can drink my tea before it’s cold, but let’s be realistic here, usually it’s lukewarm by the time I get to it so it gets popped in the microwave (shhhhh I know re-heating tea is wrong).
By then, the bus alarm is going off and the kids are bickering about which shoes they wear and from the kitchen is the beep beep beep of the microwave. And the tea sits. It’s depressing. All mama wants is a few minutes to enjoy her cup of tea.
I’m taking charge though. I’m taking my me time back. The sweet spot in my morning is right after the big kids are on their busses and it’s just me and my toddler. At this point, I need to make a fresh mug of tea (because double reheated is just y-u-c-k), and take a few minutes or fifteen to recharge before I start my day.
I’ve decided that my take back is all about the guilty pleasure too, so I decided to pick up some magazines to catch up some gossip from PEOPLE StyleWatch® and travel tips from Sunset. Added bonus? I saved $1 on PEOPLE StyleWatch magazine (while supplies last) when I shopped at Safeway and you can too, save $1 on one (1) participating magazine title PEOPLE, PEOPLE StyleWatch, Sunset, and InStyle available through the Just4U online portal 10/23/14 – 11/20/14
The perfect accompaniment to my tea? A homemade scone. That I don’t have to share. Except for maybe with my toddler. Who’s watching Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood while I sneak my Me Time. Hey, I’ll take what I can get, beggars can’t be choosers, right? At least I get my blanket to myself.
