Monday was the first day of spring break here in Seattle. The concept of sleeping in is pretty much lost on my kids. When I say sleeping in, I’d be happy with you know, 7:30. Heck, I’d be happy to get a cup of tea in before the rustling from the deep starts.
While my tea sat cold on the counter (normal around here, I usually re-heat it at least twice) I made the kids the waffles they requested. Do you know we went through AN ENTIRE BOX OF WAFFLES? I think I was threatening time outs by 9am.
Except I’m not talking about the kids. I am talking about me. When the kids are being, well, the kids, it’s sometimes easy for me to get frazzled. When I’m hungry, sometimes all bets are off. No one wants a Hangry Mom. Or a Hangry Maven.
Total confession: I may or may not have hid in my husband’s office today to have some chocolate. I swear, those kids have some sort of radar and can tell that the crinkling of the wrapper is a SNICKERS® bar and not something boring like a crackers or wheat cereal. How do they know? HOW DO THEY KNOW?!?!
I’m pretty sure I’ve earned a new Kindle book too, keep your fingers crossed that I’ll be able to read and snack in peace. I deserve that much, don’t I? Anything to keep me sane.
Since I’m going to have to get more SNICKERS® since spring break just started and we all know I’m going to need another time out, I’m going to stop by Kroger sometimes this week and sneak down the candy aisle.
