When I learned about Bio-Kult, I did a bit of a deep dive into learning about probiotics and their importance to our microbiome. After all, my science degree is in textiles, not nutrition, so I'm definitely no expert. While I knew the basics of why we need probiotics, they are actually essential to our overall health. What I learned is that probiotics are really important, and extend beyond what you eat, but can even impact your brain functions and mood.

    Why should you take probiotics?

Bio-Kult, is a scientifically developed, advanced multi-strain formulation containing 14 probiotic strains, which are proven to survive the high acidity of the stomach. The bacteria in Bio-Kult helps to reestablish and rebalance the gut microflora. I received this product for free from Moms Meet (momsmeet.com) to use and post my honest opinions.

I decided to try Bio-Kult because as a busy mom I need to find little ways to do things for myself and my health. Pro-biotics seemed like a good start! I appreciate that I don't need to refrigerate Bio-Kult (it would get lost in all the kids snacks anyway!) and that it's so easy to take. The capsules can be swallowed whole or pulled apart with contents sprinkled into food or mixed in a drink. For my readers with allergies, it's important to point out that Bio-Kult contains milk and soy used in the fermentation process.

With three kids going back to school in less than a month, I know all the typical viruses will be coming home, so taking Bio-Kult has been a great way to boost my immune system and improve my gut health. While I eat things like yogurt, which contain probiotics, it's nice to get an extra boost. By taking Bio-Kult I know that my body is getting the boost of healthy bacteria that it may need.

    What are probiotics?

Probiotics are a mixture of live bacteria and/or yeast that lives in your body. You need probiotics because they help keep your body healthy. Probiotics are good bacteria that help fight off bad bacteria. You can find probiotics in both foods and supplements. The impact of probiotics on your body is just part of the big picture — your microbiome.

    What is microbiome?

Your microbiome is made up of microorganisms and their genetic material that live in your intestinal tract. These microorganisms, mainly comprising bacteria, are involved in functions that are necessary to your health and wellbeing. The bacteria in your digestive tract do more than just digest your food, they help with absorbing and synthesizing nutrients too. These gut bugs also affect your metabolism, body weight, and your immune system.
