As much as I love to cook, I’m all about convenient and tasty meals. InnovAsian is always a staple in our freezer, and I thought I’d have some fun and do more than just heat it up in my oven and microwave. I took two of my favorite InnovAsian products and made a super fun and delicious waffle bowl appetizer.

What’s more fun than a bowl of sticky rice with some General Tso’s chicken? Making it into an appetizer by pairing it with a mini waffle bowl.

We’ve been on a mini waffle bowl kick lately, they are easy to make and the kids love them. I thought it’d be fun to make a savory sesame waffle and pair it with InnovAsian General Tso’s Chicken and InnovAsian Sticky White Rice to make the perfect appetizer or let’s be honest, kid sized portion.

I used the Dash Mini Waffle Bowl Maker to make my appetizer sized waffle bowls.I kept the recipe as simple as I could in hopes that most things would be on hand in the kitchen AND the flavors wouldn’t over power the InnovAsian General Tso’s. I adapted this waffle recipe from the Dash website.

Ingredients
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp kosher salt
4 large eggs
1/2 cups whole milk
6 tbsp unsalted butter melted
1/4 cup fresh scallions, cut into small pieces
2 tbsp black sesame seeds

Directions
Preheat your mini waffle maker.
Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl and wish to combine.
In a separate small bowl, whisk the eggs in milk together, and add the melted butter.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and mix until blended.
Using a tablespoon size cookie scoop, ladle a generous tablespoon into your preheated waffle maker.
Sprinkle black sesame seeds and scallions into the bottom of the bowl and close the waffle maker.
Cook for about 3 minutes or until golden brown.

Note: If you put more than 2 tablespoons of batter into your waffle maker it will overflow!

This will make about 15-18 mini waffle bowls.

I included the InnovAsian General Tso's Chicken as the filling for the waffle bowls. I’m also eager to include the InnovAsian Orange Chicken next time. They are both great pairings with the waffle bowls! Yum!
