As much as I love to cook, I'm all about convenient and tasty meals. InnovAsian is always a staple in our freezer, and I thought I'd have some fun and do more than just heat it up in my oven and microwave. I took two of my favorite InnovAsian products and made a super fun and delicious waffle bowl appetizer.
Asian Inspired General Tso's Waffle Bowl Appetizer
What's more fun than a bowl of sticky rice with some General Tso's chicken? Making it into an appetizer by pairing it with a mini waffle bowl.

We've been on a mini waffle bowl kick lately, they are easy to make and the kids love them. I thought it'd be fun to make a savory sesame waffle and pair it with InnovAsian General Tso's Chicken and InnovAsian Sticky White Rice to make the perfect appetizer or let's be honest, kid sized portion.
Savory Sesame Waffle Bowls
I used the Dash Mini Waffle Bowl Maker to make my appetizer sized waffle bowls.I kept the recipe as simple as I could in hopes that most things would be on hand in the kitchen AND the flavors wouldn't over power the InnovAsian General Tso's. I adapted this waffle recipe from the Dash website.
Ingredients
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 ½ cups granulated sugar
2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon kosher salt
4 large eggs
½ cups whole milk
6 tablespoon unsalted butter melted
¼ cup fresh scallions, cut into small pieces
2 tablespoon black sesame seeds
Directions
Preheat your mini waffle maker.
Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl and wish to combine.
In a separate small bowl, whisk the eggs in milk together, and add the melted butter.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and mix until blended.
Using a tablespoon size cookie scoop, ladle a generous tablespoon into your preheated waffle maker.
Sprinkle black sesame seeds and scallions into the bottom of the bowl and close the waffle maker.
Cook for about 3 minutes or until golden brown.
Note: If you put more than 2 tablespoons of batter into your waffle maker it will overflow!
This will make about 15-18 mini waffle bowls.

This sounds very yummy. Before I make this I need to confirm 1 1/2 cups of sugar is correct.

I know it sounds crazy! It's supposed to be a sweet waffle. You can safely drop the sugar down to 1 1/3 of a cup and the recipe should still work. The InnovAsian General Tso's has enough kick to it I like how the sweetness balances it out. I'll have to play with the recipe a bit and come up with a more savory one. I have one I made a few years ago I can try and modify for the waffle bowl maker.
