When I think about making party food, I confess, I like to keep it simple. More often than not, something from Foster Farms. This time around, I decided to step it up and come up with a Hawaiian Sliders recipe with their shredded chicken. It’s a slam dunk as a snack while watching the college basketball tournaments. I’d like to thank Foster Farms for sponsoring this post.
Make Gametime Snacking A Slam Dunk!
We use the Foster Farms shredded chicken in a ton of recipes, and for our basketball championship viewing, I was going to do my standard cop-out make street tacos. Easy enough right. BUT, then I thought about my love for Hawaiian rolls, and I thought about using the shredded chicken to make Hawaiian roll sliders. BEST. DECISION. EVER.
The best Hawaiian Sliders recipe
The best thing about this Hawaiian sliders recipe is it takes very little time, so it’s not going to take you away from watching the game. Prep time for this BBQ sliders recipe is about 10 minutes, and then it’s just 30 more in the oven. SO easy! Game changing.
Foster Farms makes my life easier when it comes to meal time. Our freezer is stocked with their products from their ground turkey to their Saute Ready (which is awesome for stir fry). Their lunch meat is a win for quick snacks. But their shredded chicken is what made my Hawaiian sliders possible.
12 Kings Hawaiian rolls fit almost perfectly into an 11×7 dish. You’ll have a little wiggle room, but that’s okay because it makes it easier to get them out with your spatula. I recommend precutting them, and be forewarned that these chicken sliders are sweet, tangy and a little messy!
Hawaiian Sliders with BBQ Chicken
2 cups Foster Farms shredded chicken
1 cup BBQ Sauce
8oz crushed pineapple, drained, set juice aside
1/4 cup diced red onion
2 Tbs chopped cilantro
1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
1 (12 ct) pkg Hawaiian Rolls
4 Tbs salted butter, melted
1-2 Tbs pineapple juice
1/4 tsp garlic powder
Preheat oven to 350.
Lightly coat an 11×7 baking dish with cooking spray.
Split your slider buns in half with a bread knife, place one half in the bottom of your prepped baking dish.
Combine your shredded chicken and BBQ sauce until well coated.
Spread the BBQ chicken on top of the Hawaiian rolls.
Add cheese evenly across the BBQ chicken mixture
Top with the crushed pineapple, onion and cilantro.
Put the other half of the slider rolls on top.
Mix together your glaze ingredients.
Use a pastry brush to brush evenly over tops of rolls, getting it in the crevices.
Cover with foil and bake for about 30 minutes or until cheese is melty.
