There once was a little boy in 1977 who loved Star Wars. He loved it so much he waited in line to see the movie when he was 6 years old. and now, in 2014 still has those same toys he bought with his birthday money in the 1970s.
If it’s Star Wars and it’s on Blu-Ray or DVD, we own it. Needless to say, when we found out that there was an exclusive release of Star Wars Rebels DVD at Walmart from from 10/3 to 10/13, we were NOT about to miss out! It’s easy to find on an end cap in the Entertainment department.
I grew up with Star Wars, kinda. See, I was born in 1975 so I was pretty young when the first two movies came out in 1977 and 1980. I barely remember The Empire Strikes Back the first time around. I was 8 for Return of the Jedi and saw it in the theater.
My husband however? Poster child for Star Wars. He still is. He still has all of his original toys and posters. He’s even built his own lightsaber. When George Lucas envisioned his target market for this movie, there was a photo of my husband on his desk. I’m kidding of course, but he really does love Star Wars. Remember, I said he still had all of his old toys. Maybe some day he’ll truly let me write about them.
One of the best things about the new Star Wars Rebels series? Hellllo! New toys! As a family growing up with Star Wars new toys are always the best! Just a few of them are the Rebels Millennium Falcon (of course!) the SW command destroyer (which comes with Luke and Vader, woot!) and the Inquisitor lightsaber (one can always use another lightsaber!) The only bummer? Our Walmart was pillaged of so many of the new toys – I guess everyone else thought they were cool too! We did get the Kanan Jarrus lightsaber and the kids have been swishing it around (probably good that don’t know we have others, right?)
Sebby and Quincy dig Star Wars too, they built their own droids when we were at Disneyland and Sebby rode Star Tours more times than I can count! I think we had to stop because of the motion sickness and he was ready to keep going!

Judge her by her size do you?
So yeah, we’re pretty excited about Star Wars Rebels! We’ve already watched the DVD a few times and we’re excited for the next episode.

Eek! Toy explosion in the living room. Let’s blame it on the Empire.
