This post is part of a summer outdoor movie night series. I was provided items to facilitate my reviews and experiences. This post contains affiliate links.
Summer is winding down. School starts next week and it’s no longer dark until 10pm. We’re hoping to squeeze in a few more outdoor movie nights before fall. Then the only thing we have to worry about are the yellow jackets.
I’m not going to remind you all of when The Lion King came out in theaters, but it was a while ago. I was in college. In fact, I unearthed my VHS copy just this past weekend. Lucky for my kids though, they get to experience this Disney classic during a family movie night!
Starting today, August 29, this Disney classic is now available on Blu-Ray, DVD and at DisneyMoviesAnywhere! Quincy will be thrilled to learn that our copy includes a sing-a-long version!
This weekend, I’ll be surprising the kids while we watch The Lion King in style, complete with themed crafts, snacks and other activities!
We’re ready to go with a Blu-Ray copy of The Lion King, courtesy of Walt Disney Studios, as well as some other goodies they sent us. I’m going to have to claim the Funko Pop Simba for myself. Sorry kids.
The kids will love these fun recipes they help make and they’re tasty too! I suggest printing out the masks on card stock or carefully gluing them to stiff paper for more Lion fun! Click on the image below to print them all out!
You’ll also want to gather up the supplies for this lion mask milk jug craft. It will have your kids roaring for sure!
We’re going to have so much fun! I know this is a movie the kids will want to watch over and over. It’s such a great classic!
“The Lion King” follows the adventures of Simba, a feisty lion cub who cannot wait to be king, as he searches for his destiny in the great “Circle of Life.” The film earned a Golden Globe® for Best Motion Picture—Comedy or Musical and inspired a Tony Award®-winning Broadway musical that is currently the third longest-running musical in Broadway history. In 2019, a reimagined live-action film, helmed by Jon Favreau, will delight audiences with the thrilling retelling of the original tale utilizing groundbreaking technological advances—as only Disney can do.
“The Lion King” is the fifth title to join the Walt Disney Signature Collection, which includes groundbreaking films created or inspired by the imagination and legacy of Walt Disney, featuring timeless stories and characters that have touched generations. It takes its place alongside “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Pinocchio” and “Bambi.”
