The #PetesDragonEvent is an exclusive all expenses paid trip, but the opinions and experiences shared are my own. I”m so excited for the Pete’s Dragon Red Carpet!
In 6 days I’m headed for some California sunshine for some amazing fun with 24 other bloggers – we’re going to walk the red carpet for the Pete’s Dragon premier and so much more!
Check out what I’ll be doing, and you’ll know why I am so excited! I’m going to be interviewing film makers, actors and more, so if there are questions you want me to consider, please leave them in the comment section!
Let’s start with everyone’s favorite dragon shall we? Maybe you’re familiar with Disney’s tale of the giant green dragon, Elliott. I know as a child I must have the 1977 classic live-action musical with thea nimated dragon at least a dozen times! I’m so excited to see a childhood memory be reborn as an adult.
For years, old wood carver Mr. Meacham (Robert Redford) has delighted local children with his tales of the fierce dragon that resides deep in the woods of the Pacific Northwest. To his daughter, Grace (Bryce Dallas Howard), who works as a forest ranger, these stories are little more than tall tales…until she meets Pete (Oakes Fegley). Pete is a mysterious 10-year-old with no family and no home who claims to live in the woods with a giant, green dragon named Elliott. And from Pete’s descriptions, Elliott seems remarkably similar to the dragon from Mr. Meacham’s stories. With the help of Natalie (Oona Laurence), an 11-year-old girl whose father Jack (Wes Bentley) owns the local lumber mill, Grace sets out to determine where Pete came from, where he belongs, and the truth about this dragon.
I’m so excited to be able to walk the red carpet and see Pete’s Dragon at the El Captian Theatre! In fact, while I am in LA I will get a theater tour too!
I’ll also be interviewing Bryce Dallas Howard (“Grace” – @BryceDHoward) and Oakes Fegley (“Pete”) & Oona Laurence (“Natalie”)!

I’ll also be screening the Queen of Katwe. I’ve been told to pack tissues.
“Queen of Katwe” is the colorful true story of a young girl selling corn on the streets of rural Uganda whose world rapidly changes when she is introduced to the game of chess, and, as a result of the support she receives from her family and community, is instilled with the confidence and determination she needs to pursue her dream of becoming an international chess champion. Directed by Mira Nair (“Monsoon Wedding”) from a screenplay by William Wheeler (“The Hoax”) based on the book by Tim Crothers, “Queen of Katwe” is produced by Lydia Dean Pilcher (“The Darjeeling Limited”) and John Carls (“Where the Wild Things Are”) with Will Weiske and Troy Buder serving as executive producers. The film stars Golden Globe® nominee David Oyelowo (“Selma”), Oscar® winner and Tony Award® nominee Lupita Nyong’o (“12 Years a Slave”) and newcomer Madina Nalwanga.
Queen of Katwe opens in theaters on September 23rd!
If seeing two amazing films wasn’t enough, I also get a sneak peek of the new short Inner Workings and will see some footage from Moana!
“Moana,” is a a sweeping, CG-animated feature film about an adventurous teenager who sails out on a daring mission to save her people. During her journey, Moana (voice of Auli’i Cravalho) meets the once-mighty demigod Maui (voice of Dwayne Johnson), who guides her in her quest to become a master wayfinder. Together, they sail across the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds, and along the way, Moana fulfills the ancient quest of her ancestors and discovers the one thing she’s always sought: her own identity. Directed by the renowned filmmaking team of Ron Clements and John Musker (“The Little Mermaid,” “Aladdin,” “The Princess & the Frog”) and produced by Osnat Shurer (“Lifted,” “One Man Band”)
After I see the screening of Inner Workings I will participate in a question and answer with Director Leo Matsuda and Producer Sean Lurie!
The MOANA Footage Presentation will include a Drawing Demo with Head of Animation Amy Smeed, Head of Story Dave Pimentel, Story Artist Dave Derrick, “Mini Maui” Animation Supervisor Eric Goldberg and Development Sr. Creative Exec Jessica Julius

But wait, there is more!
Disney presents the live-action epic adventure The Jungle Book, directed by Jon Favreau (“Iron Man,” “Iron Man 2,” “Chef”) and produced by Favreau and Brigham Taylor (executive producer of “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales,” “Tomorrowland”), “The Jungle Book” is a live-action epic adventure based on Rudyard Kipling’s timeless stories, inspired by Disney’s classic 1967 animated film and centered on Mowgli (Neel Sethi), a man-cub who’s been raised by a family of wolves. But Mowgli finds he is no longer welcome in the jungle when fearsome tiger Shere Khan (voice of Idris Elba), who bears the scars of Man, promises to eliminate what he sees as a threat.
In addition, we’re going to be viewing THE JUNGLE BOOK Blu-ray bonus features screening AND having Q+A with Producer Brigham Taylor and Visual Effect Supervisor Rob Legato! We’ll be getting a sneak peek of some new consumer products from Disney (ie Disney themed Christmas presents for my kids)
