The holidays are a crazy time for many. Growing up, it was really busy for me. A whirlwind of dinners and driving. Way too intense. Now, I’ve instituted self care for myself each holiday with these stress-free holiday tips. Because I’ll be honest, if I’m stressed out, the holiday dinner is not going to happen! This holiday season starts with healthy living!
Whether it’s Christmas or Thanksgiving morning, one of the first things I do is turn on the oven and get things rolling on breakfast. You might think that I’m going to lovingly prepare some handmade breads. Well, maybe. But it’s more likely that I’m warming up some cinnamon rolls I picked up at Sam’s Club.
That’s probably one of my first stress-free holiday tips. First, no one will judge you for using some premade items during the holiday meals. Second, chances are if you hide the packaging, no one will ever know either. And don’t worry, I will not tell. I promise.
Next tip: Pop in a holiday movie for the kids. THEN sneak off to the bedroom with a glass of wine, a snack and some holiday magazines. A cozy blanket is a good idea too. Bonus points if said blanket is heated! Mine is and it’s sooo warm. You deserve some self care and a few minutes (or even 30-45 minutes) to yourself. You deserve it. Take a few moments to check out a new app from Sam’s Club too. They have this great new online magazine available – the Healthy Living Made Simple app is full of useful articles and tips and can be downloaded from the iTunes store.
Tip: Do not feel guilty about not going to every party you’re invited to.
Tip: Do not feel like you have to host a huge holiday party at your house. If you MUST, then go to Sam’s Club. They have EVERYTHING you need for a stress-free holiday experience. Remember my rolls? I also buy premade pies, frozen veggies and so much. Even party trays! I want to enjoy my guests, not drive myself crazy preparing foods. Besides, I’d much rather hide in the bedroom with a glass of wine, my new heated blanket and read a new magazine then be in the kitchen all day.
Tip: Don’t sweat the small stuff. You don’t need to have matching linens, a perfect tree or a bacon wrapped turkey to have a stress free holiday. Pinterest is fun, and I adore it, but seriously, let someone else do the work.
Put yourself first this holiday!
