I got all excited when Italian wine brand, Santa Margherita sent me a complementary bottle of their Prosecco Superiore to make a spiked strawberry slushie. Crazy excited. Because prosecco plus my favorite fruit is a real win.
However, the stars were not aligned, and my ice maker on my refrigerator is on strike.
I did the best I could, and it was still delicious, but I’ve included the recipe and THEIR photo of what it’s all supposed to look like so perhaps you can have more success. For now, I’m headed to the store to buy some ice.
Recipe and photo provided by client.
Spiked Strawberry Slushie
3 cups strawberries
¼ cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 sprig of fresh mint
Ice cubes
1 tablespoon sugar
Bottle Santa Margherita Prosecco Superiore
Stir lemon juice and ½ Santa Margherita Prosecco Superiore together, set aside. Combine ice cubes, mint, sugar and strawberries in blender, blend on high until smooth. Pour in lemon and Santa Margherita Prosecco Superiore mixture and blend on medium until smooth. Distribute mixture and top each glass with remaining Prosecco. Garnish with strawberry.
See- no ice – not so slushy. Still very delicious – the Prosecco Superiore has a fantastic flavor.

This sure looks amazing! I’ve not seen anything like it before, and would make a nice surprise for a get together with friends!
