People often think Valentine’s Day is for adults, but it’s definitely for kids too! There are lots of ways to create memories and make Valentine’s Day fun for kids. We’re celebrating Valentine’s Day at home this year, and came up with this list of fun Valentine’s ideas for kids. Best part? You can find what you need to celebrate at Safeway !

Stay at Home Valentine’s Day Ideas!

We’ll definitely be having some Valentine’s Day fun with special meals, decorating cookies with special DIY kits and watching Valentine’s Day movies. Use these ideas to create a memorable holiday for the whole family!

DECORATE FOR VALENTINE’S DAY

You can decorate for Valentine’s Day without spending a lot of money! Whether you decorate your walls with a package of foam hearts or cut out hearts with construction paper, you can really make things look festive! If your family is feeling sad about putting away holiday decorations, then start decorating for Valentine’s Day now! It’s a great way to get your child excited and keep them entertained!

DECORATE SUGAR COOKIES TOGETHER

Head to Safeway for Signature DYI decorating kits available in the bakery – includes cookies or cupcakes, frosting in piping bags and sprinkles to make sweet treats at home. Decorate your cookies with a ridiculous amount of Signature SELECT® sprinkles. You can even pick up your own DIY cupcakes to decorate! Spread the love with your own custom-made cookies and cupcakes this Valentine’s Day. Fun for both kids and adults!

MAKE A VALENTINE’S DAY BREAKFAST

Have a special Valentine’s Day breakfast with strawberry pancakes or waffles! You can even add food coloring to homemade whipped cream to turn it pink. There are lots of fun Valentine’s themed food you can make for breakfast. Save time and set your table the night before, after the kids go to bed.

WRAP A SMALL PRESENT

One of our traditions is buying  fun Valentine’s themed shirts to wear. I also like buying the kids a small gift like a Hot Wheels car or new crayons. It doesn’t have to be anything large or over the top.

HAVE A VALENTINE’S DAY DINNER

If you’ve made your kids a special Valentine’s Day breakfast, make a special Valentine’s Day dinner for you and your partner. Don’t forget to pickup flowers from Safeway’s floral department. I love the single red rose with vase I found in Safeway’s floral department! So simple and pretty.

ENJOY SPECIAL VALENTINE’S TREATS

In addition to decorating your own cookies, don’t miss the jumbo Valentine’s Day cupcakes in the bakery, or the chocolate-dipped strawberries available in the produce. Chocolate dipped Signature Farms® strawberries are usually available the week before Valentine’s Day. You definitely don’t want to miss picking them up!

USE VALENTINE’S DAY CANDY FOR DECORATION

Fill a jar or vase with layered Valentine’s Day candy and chocolate. It will be a cute decoration, and then you dan let your kids eat it on Valentine’s Day. You can find Valentine’s Day candy at Safeway!

HAVE A VALENTINE’S THEMED MOVIE NIGHT

Check out some of these fun Valentine’s specials while celebrating with your family!
“Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown”
“Elmo Loves You!”
“Mickey & Minnie’s Sweetheart Stories”
Clifford The Big Red Dog: “King Clifford” & “Be My Big Red Valentine”
Monster High: “Why Do Ghouls Fall in Love?”

READ VALENTINE THEMED BOOKS!

Cuddle up, have some cookies, and read some Valentine’s Day themed books! Here are some books for young readers we’ve enjoyed over the years.

The Dinosaurs Valentine’s Day by Jessica Brady
The Day it Rained Hearts by Felicia Bond
Llama Llama I Love You by Anna Dewdney
Hugs and Kisses for the Grouchy Ladybug by Eric Carle
Love Monster and the Last Chocolate by Rachel Bright

SHOP AT SAFEWAY FOR ALL OF YOUR VALENTINE’S DAY NEEDS

Safeway and Albertsons also offers Grocery Delivery and DriveUp & Go™ for convenient ways to shop! I love using Grocery Delivery for the bulk of our groceries each week, and then running into the store real quick for specialty items.

I shopped at Safeway in my local area, but you can also find Signature DYI cookie and/or cupcake decorating kits and chocolate-dipped strawberries at the Albertsons Companies family of stores, including Albertsons, ACME Markets, Jewel-Osco, Vons, Randalls, Shaw’s Supermarket, Star Market and Tom Thumb.
