Step 1: Thaw your puff pastry dough over night in the refrigerator.
Step 2: Preheat your oven to 400F degrees. I let my puff pastry sit on the counter when I do this during cooler months as it allows it to be thaw a little more and make it easier to work with.
Step 3: Unfold your sheet of puff pastry on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Step 4: Put a large chocolate bar on top of unfolded sheet of puff pastry dough.
Step 5: Wrap puff pastry dough around the chocolate. Don't wrap it tightly, rather just fold it over, creating a pouch. Fold the top and bottom first, followed by the sides.
Step 6: Carefully flip the roll over, so the seam side is down on top of the parchment.
Step 7: Whisk an egg with a fork and then brush the pastry dough with the egg.
Step 8: Using a sharp knife, cut the slits in the dough on top. This allows the dough to expand to full volume while baking.
Step 9: Bake at 400F for 20-25 minutes.
Step 10: Let cool for a few minutes before enjoying, the chocolate filling will be hot!
