I love our little house, but it's sorely lacking a wood burning fireplace. For now, I have to live vicariously through our friends that have one (or TWO!) fireplaces. This spring, I plan on getting a fire pit when I remodel our yard. I'm excited to be partnering with Duraflame for a series of posts both sharing fireplace ideas for wood burning fireplaces as well as creating our firepit area this spring.
A fireplace is often a gathering place, whether it’s for warmth, socializing or even cooking. If you know someone who has a wood burning fireplace, consider getting them a fireplace gift next time you visit! Fireplace gift ideas include fireplace tools, fire screens, log carriers and wood buckets. Fireplace gifts are quite popular in the fall and winter, but some can be given year round!
If you’ve ever toured Colonial Williamsburg, you’ve probably seen bellows by a fireplace. Bellows are used to increase oxygen supply when starting or reviving a fire.
For safety, fireplace gloves allow one to manage hot firewood, to adjust it to get the best result. Not only do they protect hands from the heat, they also keep hands clean when handling firewood and prevent splinters.
Fireplace screens are another essential safety gift. They come in different styles and sizes, so if you’re giving one as a gift, make sure it’s the right size. A fireplace screen is to keep ash and embers from blowing into the room or to keep a dislodged log from rolling into a room.
It’s common to store a stash of wood or Duraflame logs near a fireplace. Keep them neat and tidy with a log holder. Duraflame logs burn cleaner than wood and typically burn about 4 hours depending on the size of the log. Give your favorite fireplace owner a stash of Duraflame fire logs!
Last month I gave my favorite babysitter and her boyfriend a "Cozy Winter Basket" with a blanket, wine, chocolate and Duraflame logs. They'll be able to use the metal basket to store their logs in!
Fireplace candelabras are brighten a fireplace when they are not in use during warmer months. You can even use LED candles on them!
