This garlic roasted asparagus is the perfect side dish, an easy dinner recipe that can be made in less than fifteen minutes.

One Pan Garlic Roasted Asparagus

One of the best things about making this roasted asparagus recipe is you can do it all right on your cookie sheet. It means it’s not only quick to prepare, but an easy clean up.

I use so much garlic when I cook that I buy it pre-minced, it makes it so much easier in the kitchen, and I can be a lot more liberal with my garlic usage. Since the garlic I buy is soaked in olive oil, that adds a nice extra boost of flavor too. I do however, like to grate my own cheese. I love freshly grated cheese – it’s so much better and fresher tasting.

I love sous vide asparagus too, but roasting asparagus in the oven is preferred when I am short on time.

How to prepare asparagus

Rinse the asparagus spears under cool water to remove any grit. Don’t cut the ends, but rather snap off the bottom inch or so using your fingers. The stems will naturally break where the tough woody part ends and the tender stem begins. Gently dry the spears by rolling them between two towels.

Ingredients for Garlic Roasted Asparagus

1/2 pound fresh asparagus
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
3 tablespoons minced garlic (I use preminced)
2-3 Tablespoons parmesan and romano cheese (fresh!!)
olive oil spray

How to roast asparagus

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Line a rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil and set aside.
Prepare the asparagus by gently snapping off the ends with your fingers. Spread out in a thin layer on top of the foil lined cookie sheet.
Spray the asparagus lightly with a coat of olive oil spray. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, garlic, and grated parmesan and romano cheese. Gently mix the asparagus with all of the ingredients.
Make sure the asparagus is evenly spread out on your cookie sheet.
Spray with one more light coat of olive oil.
Bake in the preheated oven for 8 minutes. Remove from oven and serve immediately.

What’s funny about this is that I just made this. Didn’t have the cheese, but it was still very good.
